I use traditonal blacksmithing techniques and modify them to create jewelry and belt buckles in my Seattle studio. With training in architectural blacksmtihing, my smaller forgings reflect design influences from much larger scale pieces like gates and railings.
I have been blacksmithing since 1997, getting my first taste for iron and fire at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. After apprenticing with blacksmiths in Texas and Washington for about 6 years, I opened Steel Toe Studios in 2003 and have been making belt buckles, small forgings and jewelry ever since. I occasionally now teach at the craft schools where I first found my passion, returning to Penland and Haystack now and again, and am currently offering workshops out of my own studio in Seattle. I sell my work online, at craft shows and at the Pike Place Market.
