I value honest in materials. Clay and paper are used to portray personal narratives. Themes in my work include domestics objects such as furniture, rugs, lamps, or whole interiors, and how these objects or homes become portraits of the people who live there.
Amy Simons was born in Ohio, raised in Minnesota, and currently lives in Washington state. She hopes to visit all fifty states before the age of thirty, with only three years and seven states left to go. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2014 with a B.F.A. in ceramics and a B.S. in geology. Amy is currently an artist-in-residence at Pottery Northwest in Seattle.
