FLY is a celebration of tuning into beauty amidst the mundane. My earrings and necklaces are crafted around the belief that personal adornment is a ritual that elevates and enhances our everyday lives. Each piece is stitched, woven, wrapped and tied from leather, sterling silver, seed beads and semi-precious gemstones to create fields of color, patterns and organic shapes that highlight and accentuate the relationships between the elements of each piece. I choose materials that allow me to create shapes, textures and structures that are greater than the sum of their parts. Attention to detail and the tedium of working with delicate materials gives me the opportunity to slow down and focus my attention in a meditative manner. Allowing myself to be drawn into the finiteness of creating meticulous adornments elicits a space where time shifts and I am fully immersed in the process.
